Anwar Ali—- Designer

Founding Zammani

From the quiet town of Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh, India, I am Anwar Ali. This place, my heaven on Earth, is where my journey began — a journey that would eventually lead to the creation of Zammani.

By profession, I am a software developer – a path I chose due to limited job opportunities. By degree, I am a pharmacist – a field I entered because I felt incapable of pursuing what I truly desired. But in truth, I have always been an artist at heart.

Growing up, I was a mediocre student, an average kid in the eyes of society. But deep inside, I felt like a misfit – a soul who found solace in art, in the power of expression. I was never the brightest, never the best, but art made me feel exceptional in a world that only applauded excellence.

Struggling with asthma as a child, I had to build physical strength just to survive. Finance was always a barrier, and every small step felt like a battle. In those moments, art became my escape, my therapy, my silent companion. It was the only thing that made me feel truly alive. I sketched, I drew, I poured my soul onto paper, feeling like the world would never understand. But to me, those sketches were worlds within worlds – expressions of the emotions I could never voice.

Society demanded degrees, jobs, and status – things that never resonated with me. But the pull of art never left my heart. And that unbroken thread of passion is what led me to create something far beyond mere fabric. That is how ‘The Time’ was born – a piece of art that carries the weight of all that is, was, and will be.

  1. Founding Zammani

Zammani was born from a singular vision – to create value that transcends material wealth and dives into the depths of art and meaning. The name itself is a union of ancient languages – ‘Zam’ from Avestan, meaning Earth, and ‘Mani’ from Sanskrit, meaning Jewel.

Zammani is not just a brand; it is a narrative, a philosophy, a movement. It seeks to remind the world why art matters, why stories matter, and why the essence of time is our greatest possession. ‘The Time’ Shawl is the first expression of that vision – a testament to how art can bind us like fabric, wrapping us in the stories of humanity.

  1. The Journey

This journey took two years of unwavering dedication. The concept of ‘The Time’ Shawl is not just art – it is a dialogue. Every wrinkle, every fade, every thread is a question. And the answers lie in the eyes of the beholder. It is a shawl created to make people reflect on what time has brought and what time has taken away.

Every element in the shawl is symbolic – the fading colors represent forgotten eras, the wrinkles symbolize the passing years, and the blank spaces are the unspoken memories yet to be written.

This is not just a shawl. It is a visual chronicle of humanity’s triumphs, failures, love, war, faith, freedom, sacrifice, and everything in between. It is a canvas that holds the stories of civilizations, the pain of wars, the warmth of love, the cries of loss, and the whispers of hope.

  1. Legacy and Time

What we are creating is a legacy – a piece of fabric that will speak to future generations about the time we lived in. This shawl is not just for today; it is a bridge that connects the present with the past and the future.

It is a tribute to our civilization, to our collective journey, to the moments that define us as human beings. It is a way to immortalize our time, to give future generations a piece of art that tells them – ‘We were here, we existed, we mattered.’

  1. Beyond Luxury

This is not just a luxury item; it is a relic, a living piece of art, a symbol of time itself. We could have made thousands of these shawls, but that would dilute its essence. We chose to limit it to 2025 pieces – one for each year.

The shawl is not about opulence; it is about meaning. It is about cherishing something that will outlast us, that will carry our stories forward. It is a whisper from the past, a voice for the present, and a promise to the future.

  1. The Critics and The Believers

We know that many will question the worth of this shawl – they will see it as just a piece of cloth. But those who understand the language of art, those who feel the pulse of time, will see beyond the fabric.

To them, ‘The Time’ is more than just a shawl – it is a testimony of existence, a chronicle of humanity, a tribute to everything we are. It is a canvas where every thread holds a story, where every wrinkle speaks of time’s touch.

Some will say it’s not worth it, but time will tell the truth – because time, like this shawl, is precious. And one day, the world will look back and realize what they missed, and what they could have held onto – a piece of time, a piece of art, a piece of history.

Shekhar The Poem Writer
My name is Shekhar Singh, a 25-year-old writer and storyteller from Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh. Professionally, I work as a content writer, but writing for me has always been more than just a job—it’s a calling that began during a time when the world around me felt too heavy to carry in silence. I turned to words not out of choice, but necessity. What started as a personal need to express emotions and experiences soon evolved into a deeper connection with storytelling. Over time, this journey led me to write books and explore various dimensions of creative writing. My collaboration with Zammani is a natural extension of that journey. The brand’s vision—to embed history into fabric and make it wearable—is something that immediately struck a chord with me. There’s something incredibly powerful about turning time into texture, stories into style. That idea intrigued me deeply, and I knew I had to be a part of it. This poem is my contribution to that vision—a piece of my heart woven into words. Through it, I hope to bring meaning and emotion to the design, allowing people to not just wear art, but to feel the passage of time and the heritage it carries. For me, this isn’t just a poem—it’s a bridge between the past and the present, and I’m proud to share it with the world.
Shivani Mukherjee Artist
Hie! I am Shivani Mukherjee, from a very young age, painting has been an integral part of my life, which naturally led me to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from IKSVV, India. As my artistic journey progressed, I developed a deep interest in the historic events, mythology and contemporary artists. This passion not only enriched my understanding of the field but also inspired me to explore and express the historical essence of earth through my own unique artistic style. The Time – A Reflection by the Artist, As I created each element onto this shawl, I wasn’t merely creating an artwork—I was honoring the silent force that binds us all: Time. The inspiration stemmed from a deep realization that every soul walks a unique timeline, yet we all breathe through the same elements of earth—air, water, fire, space, and land. These five, eternal and unchanging, shape the journey of every being. And in this shawl, I’ve let them speak. The center of the art—the black land—is intentional. It’s the canvas of human legacy, symbolizing both the unknown past and the unshaped future. It’s where each name will be written, not just as a mark of identity, but as a reminder that we all leave something behind, no matter how fleeting our moment may feel. I believe humans are both the same and different. Same in essence—seeking meaning, connection, and memory. Different in experience—each one living a personal version of time, a private world within the world. This shawl is an embrace of that truth. Through this piece, I wanted to make the invisible visible—to show that time is not just ticking forward, it is being lived in every breath, every element, every name.
Shakib Shaikh Digital Artist
I’m Shakib Shaikh, a Digital Designer and a third-year student at Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi. Design, for me, has always been more than visuals — it's a way to translate feeling, history, and intention into something that can be seen and remembered. Being part of The Time Shawl project has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my journey so far. I worked on aligning the hand-drawn artwork into a print-ready digital form, ensuring that every stroke stayed true to its original spirit. I also curated the placement and styling of the poem woven into the shawl — studying historical fonts, languages, and writing styles to make sure the final piece speaks a language the world can feel. I connected with this project deeply, knowing that I was contributing to something timeless — something that will be remembered across generations. Because this isn’t just a shawl. It’s Time.
