Anwar Ali—- Designer

Founding Zammani

From the quiet town of Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh, India, I am Anwar Ali. This place, my heaven on Earth, is where my journey began — a journey that would eventually lead to the creation of Zammani.

By profession, I am a software developer – a path I chose due to limited job opportunities. By degree, I am a pharmacist – a field I entered because I felt incapable of pursuing what I truly desired. But in truth, I have always been an artist at heart.

Growing up, I was a mediocre student, an average kid in the eyes of society. But deep inside, I felt like a misfit – a soul who found solace in art, in the power of expression. I was never the brightest, never the best, but art made me feel exceptional in a world that only applauded excellence.

Struggling with asthma as a child, I had to build physical strength just to survive. Finance was always a barrier, and every small step felt like a battle. In those moments, art became my escape, my therapy, my silent companion. It was the only thing that made me feel truly alive. I sketched, I drew, I poured my soul onto paper, feeling like the world would never understand. But to me, those sketches were worlds within worlds – expressions of the emotions I could never voice.

Society demanded degrees, jobs, and status – things that never resonated with me. But the pull of art never left my heart. And that unbroken thread of passion is what led me to create something far beyond mere fabric. That is how ‘The Time’ was born – a piece of art that carries the weight of all that is, was, and will be.

  1. Founding Zammani

Zammani was born from a singular vision – to create value that transcends material wealth and dives into the depths of art and meaning. The name itself is a union of ancient languages – ‘Zam’ from Avestan, meaning Earth, and ‘Mani’ from Sanskrit, meaning Jewel.

Zammani is not just a brand; it is a narrative, a philosophy, a movement. It seeks to remind the world why art matters, why stories matter, and why the essence of time is our greatest possession. ‘The Time’ Shawl is the first expression of that vision – a testament to how art can bind us like fabric, wrapping us in the stories of humanity.

  1. The Journey

This journey took two years of unwavering dedication. The concept of ‘The Time’ Shawl is not just art – it is a dialogue. Every wrinkle, every fade, every thread is a question. And the answers lie in the eyes of the beholder. It is a shawl created to make people reflect on what time has brought and what time has taken away.

Every element in the shawl is symbolic – the fading colors represent forgotten eras, the wrinkles symbolize the passing years, and the blank spaces are the unspoken memories yet to be written.

This is not just a shawl. It is a visual chronicle of humanity’s triumphs, failures, love, war, faith, freedom, sacrifice, and everything in between. It is a canvas that holds the stories of civilizations, the pain of wars, the warmth of love, the cries of loss, and the whispers of hope.

  1. Legacy and Time

What we are creating is a legacy – a piece of fabric that will speak to future generations about the time we lived in. This shawl is not just for today; it is a bridge that connects the present with the past and the future.

It is a tribute to our civilization, to our collective journey, to the moments that define us as human beings. It is a way to immortalize our time, to give future generations a piece of art that tells them – ‘We were here, we existed, we mattered.’

  1. Beyond Luxury

This is not just a luxury item; it is a relic, a living piece of art, a symbol of time itself. We could have made thousands of these shawls, but that would dilute its essence. We chose to limit it to 2025 pieces – one for each year.

The shawl is not about opulence; it is about meaning. It is about cherishing something that will outlast us, that will carry our stories forward. It is a whisper from the past, a voice for the present, and a promise to the future.

  1. The Critics and The Believers

We know that many will question the worth of this shawl – they will see it as just a piece of cloth. But those who understand the language of art, those who feel the pulse of time, will see beyond the fabric.

To them, ‘The Time’ is more than just a shawl – it is a testimony of existence, a chronicle of humanity, a tribute to everything we are. It is a canvas where every thread holds a story, where every wrinkle speaks of time’s touch.

Some will say it’s not worth it, but time will tell the truth – because time, like this shawl, is precious. And one day, the world will look back and realize what they missed, and what they could have held onto – a piece of time, a piece of art, a piece of history.
